INTERVIEW:

You look like a dandy playing elevator music… in France we have Karl Zéro playing this role : what do you think about this song and do you listen french music sometimes ?

I actually do listen to French music on occasion! Jacqueline Taïeb, Stella and France Gall. Also the band La Femme is great. I don’t know too many artists but if anyone has recommendations, I’d love to dive deep!

You definitly got the pop power : who influenced you ?

I listened to a ton of power pop in high school. Bands like Electric Light Orchestra, XTC, The Beatles and The Sugarplastic. My influences are kind of sporadic. Ben Folds Five to Toro Y Moi. Stevie Wonder to Japanese Breakfast haha

Talking about pop, what do you think about Flights Of The Conchords ? I think that you got the same freshness (and tender madness) in common… are you ok with that ?

I actually haven’t listened to Flight Of The Conchords but that songs was great!

How can you make a so groovy cover of Marvin Gaye ? What part is taking soul in your music ?

I love soul music. My grandpa left me all his 45s and a bunch of Motown, Stax, Philly Soul etc. Soul music runs in the family I guess?

Finally on some tracks it looks like you want to make a jazz funk session with an electric Herbie Hancock isn’t ? Can you tell us where the new projet is going : pop or groove ?

For the new stuff I’m working on, I’m going for a balance both popand groove.
